Meet Clàudia Paretilla-Guardi 
Registered Psychologist - Clinical Psychologist Registrar

​Engaging in a therapeutic relationship can sometimes be daunting and stress provoking. Clàudia is regarded as a warm and caring professional with a strength-focused approach. She works within a goal oriented, collaborative framework where re-establishing the sense of empowerment and hope is a key component. Moreover, great importance is placed in creating a safe and supportive space that facilitates the journey to recovery.

Clàudia is a registered Psychologist with AHPRA with many years of experience as a clinical practitioner in the allied health field. She has worked in a range of Government and Not-for profit organizations as well as in private practice for several years. 

Moreover, Clàudia has conducted research in the area of trauma and resilience and her work has been published and presented at National and International level (see FAQ).

Clàudia sees young people and adults (16 years and older) and works face to face from her Bendigo office. She is also available for online based therapy and sessions can be delivered in English, Catalan or Spanish.

In her free time, Clàudia loves spending time with her family, animals and nature.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Psychology (University of Barcelona)
  • Masters in Clinical and Health Psychology (University of Barcelona)
  • Masters  in Clinical Psychology (Post-Reg)
  • Vocational Graduate Certificate in Developmental Trauma
  • Equine Assisted Psychotherapy Practitioner Certificate​
  • EMDR certified practitioner

Industry Associations

  • Member of the Australian Psychological Society (MAPS)
  • Member of EMDR Association of Australia (EMDRAA)​

Clàudia’s particular areas of specialized training and interests include:

  • Trauma recovery - Trauma PTSD, C-PTSD, Developmental Trauma, sexual assault and domestic violence
  • Assisting families and individuals overcome issues such as:
    • Depression
    • Anxiety and/or panic attacks
    • Stress and traumatic stress
    • Avoidance
    • Intrusive thoughts, images and body sensations
    • Self-esteem issues
    • Family disharmony

Meet the Equine Team

Equine Assisted Psychological Therapy
As part of the services available to clients, Clàudia offers Evidence Based Psychological Interventions assisted by equines in a naturalistic environment. Her two equine co-therapists are Maya and Zahara.

​Zahara is an 21-year old rescue mare from Horse Shepherd Equine Sanctuary. She is kind, sweet and forgiving. Zahara loves her personal space and being fuzzed over.

Maia is a 17-year old rescue mare from Horse Shepherd Equine Sanctuary. She is sensitive, smart and direct. Maia is always happy to say hello and to ask for scratches. 

PegasusSkyWalker

Pegasus is a 10-year old wild born Brumby, rescued by Hoofs2010. He is intuitive, loyal and stoic. Pegasus enjoys observing his surroundings and making decisions only when he feels comfortable.
